Casio’s
Exilim range has been in existence now pro above four years, beginning
by the January 2003 launce of the unique 3-megapixel EX-Z3. As that time
it has continue at the forefront of camera design, by a large and well
deserved share of the market pro stylish high-performance ultra-slim
compact cameras. It maintains to face some stiff competition though, as
of Pentax’s Optio range and some recent models from Panasonic, Nikon and
Olympus, but first and foremost from the formidable Canon Digital IXUS
range.
Purchase Camera By:
One of the most recent models in the Exilim range is this, the
7.2-megapixel EX-Z75. Though the “Z” series aren’t sold on their
narrowness (that’s the “S” series) it is an amazingly compact camera. It
measures nearly 95.4mm wide through 60.6 tall by merely 19.6mm thick,
and that’s crosswise the thickest part, counting the lens and monitor.
Across the thinnest piece of the body it’s only 16.2mm, and that’s
without utilizing BenQ’s trick of a tapering body shape. Weighing merely
122g dry, it’s very small and light sufficient to slip into any pocket
or handbag.
Believing that price, it's hard to consider just how good the EX-Z75
really is. Pro starters it’s an enormous looking camera. It has a fully-aluminium
body finished in a very attractive brushed texture, by a polished bezel
roughly the lens. Through the silver version seen now it’s also
accessible in black, blue or pink. The shape and style is hygienic and
straightforward, by a round-ended sketch and beveled corners. The
controls are laid out in a charmingly high-tech looking pattern, but
still manage to be plausibly positioned pro easy operation. On the back
is a bulky 2.6-in wide-format monitors which, while relatively low
resolution at merely 114k pixels still manages to be bright and
extremely fast. Generally build quality is wonderful, and the fit and
end of the body panels and controls is extremely good. The card/battery
hatch has a special metal center. Despite its very low weight and slim
shape, the camera feels agreeably solid and efficient in the hand.
Performance has forever been a strong feature pro Casio cameras, and the
EX-Z75 is no exemption. It starts up in some over 1.5 seconds and shuts
down over again in nearly the same time. The AF system is extremely
speedy, one of the much quickest I’ve seen on a compact. Really testing
it alongside the Canon IXUS 75 it proved to be precisely as fast as that
digital camera. It as well focuses very quickly and reasonably reliably
in dim light, though the lack of an AF assist lamp means it won’t focus
in absolute darkness. The flash range is about average pro this type of
digital camera at 3.5m, however frame coverage is most attractive and
excellent, and the flash will occupation in continuous shooting mode,
though obviously is does run a bit very slowly.
