The latest
news about cameras it’s been a few months since I last attractive
reviewed modern Fujifilm’s F-series cameras, actually it was January and
the camera was the modern FinePix F31fd. I have to admit and I like very
much the F-series latest cameras a lot. For the most part they have
managed to combine cutting-edge technology, solid build high quality and
most excellent photographic results in an attractive and compact
package. There aren’t a lot of brands that have been so consistently
good pro so long.

There are many latest models F40fd is one of those most recent models,
announced in January this year, along a basically identical latest model
prepared exclusively pro Argos, the F45fd. It is a most recent
8.3-megapixel model featuring Fuji’s 1/1.6-in wonderful CCD HR VI sensor
and Real Photo Processor II engine, as well as Fuji’s hardware-based
face discovery technology. Other many features include a measuring
2.5-in and weighing 230k LCD monitor, 2000 ISO highest sensitivity, and
interestingly the ability to utilize both xD-Picture and latest SD
memory cards, although it does NOT accept SDHC cards.
I think that it is very interesting because most recent Fujifilm and
Olympus mutually developed the xD-Picture card format, and have both
utilized it in their digital cameras since they abandoned graceful Media
cards in 2002. While the xD-Picture format has not been taken up by any
other makers, as Fuji and Olympus were obviously hoping it would be,
which has meant that the special cards have remained relatively
expensive compared to the much more well-liked SD format. Is the F40fd’s
dual-format slot a tacit admittance that the xD-Picture format has been
a failure? Will future Fujifilm latest cameras abandon it overall?
Speculation aside, the recent F40fd is a very good looking camera. It
has a extremely strong all-metal body finished in a semi-matt metallic
grey, with silver and chrome details. It is not a small camera,
measuring nearly 95.7 x 59.0 x 23.3mm and net weighing a hefty 181g with
original battery and memory card it is certainly on the heavy side. It’s
not too big to fit in a pocket, but you’ll definitely know it’s there.
The
beautiful design and layout of the camera is of an extremely high
standard. Handling is very comfortable and easy, by the slightly concave
main mode dial doubling as a thumb grasp, while the completely detailing
on the front part of the body gives a raised finger grip. The controls
are solidly mounted, and overall build quality is extremely superb. My
only real problem with the control system is the ‘F’ button, which is
generally reserved pro frequently used shooting options such as ISO
setting, exposure compensation and the like. Therefore on the F40fd pro
some reason the top item on the F menu is power management, many things
which would be more sensibly located on the last page of the set-up main
menu.
