Back in
November 2005 I courtyard controversy through awarding the then-new
Fujifilm FinePix S9500 a full 10/10 in each score category. I received
e-mail and forum posts complaining that I was dim-witted to award such a
highest score, and many people on the forum of a most famous rival
camera review site practically accused me of taking bribe from Fujifilm.
In January 2007 controversy turned to outright scandal while I reward
Fuji's follow-up special model, the FinePix S9600, the similar
full-marks score. Next I received annoyed emails and accusations of
bribery.
Purchase Camera By:
Therefore contentious, I stick by both of those review scores. In both
cases I received numerous other compliments than complaints, including
literally dozens of emails as of reader who had purchase one of these
beautiful digital cameras based on my review, and felt compelled to
write in and inform me that I was fairly right to praise them so highly.
The S9500 and S9600 were together exceptional cameras offering a
enormous combination of features, most excellent performance, easy
handling and results at an astonishingly low price. The S9600 is still
accessible pro just over £200, and is still unbeatable value pro wealth.
The S9600 was instigate in August 2006, and while it was a latest model
pro the time, two years in a long time in the digital camera
marketplace. Pro at least the past year there has been most speculation
in the forums concerning how Fujifilm would follow up like successful
camera. Well the speculation preserve stop now because that successor is
here at last in the shape of the FinePix S100FS. The main and very
important question is can it lives up to its illustrious predecessors?
The basic
design thought of the S100FS is still the similar; it is a very great
SLR-style camera by a manually-operated zoom lens, a tilting monitor
screen and small electronic viewfinder. Bodily it is somewhat bigger
than the S9600, nearly measuring 133.4 X 93.6 X 150.4mm. It's as well
quite a lot heavier, weight a substantial 918g minus battery. In terms
of size and heaviness it definitely into digital SLR territory. By
comparison the Canon EOS 400D measures 126.5 x 94.2 x 65mm and weigh up
510g body merely. Body production is polycarbonate plastic over a rare
metal frame, the same as most consumer DSLRs, and build quality is
extremely good. The extra weight and the great rubberised grip provide
the camera a pleasant solidity and stability, useful while shooting at
lower shutter speeds. The control layout is like to the S9600, albeit by
more buttons, but it is quite straightforward and simple to operate.
